Urban Decay

As a photographer you see things that people normally don’t see.  On Saturday’s post I talked about the plastic industry and how it has left the area. The results are these run down buildings that for the most part seem to be invisible. With that thought in mind, I went searching for the invisible.

This here is an abandoned plastic company on Adams Street that I found. If my memory serves me correct it was called Paragon Plastics. Most if not all the windows have been broken and graffiti has taken over the walls. I imagine on cold nights it provides shelter for some of the cities homeless. This location is a couple of blocks away from downtown, yet it seems miles away.

Shots like this one always strike a chord with me. Maybe because I used to work in such a place, more likely because urban ruins fascinate me (perhaps a bit too much). And you’re right on when you say the photographer sees things most people miss. Including the invisible. But more than that, we put stories to these places… or at least wonder how they came to be in the state they are.

    Thanks for the visit,

PS: Driving the beaches in Texas is necessary to see a lot of the coastline. It may be 50 miles between access points in some remote areas.
